Dr. Luis Arias Urdaneta earned his undergraduate medical degree at Escuela de Medicina Luis Razetti in Caracas, Venezuela. He subsequently came to the United States, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he spent an additional year as Chief Resident. He distinguished himself during his residency, garnering the Howard Kane Resident of the Year award, and the American College of Physicians Chief Resident of the Year award. He went on to Harvard’s prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital to complete his fellowship in rheumatology, and is now in full-time clinical practice at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he also teaches medical students and residents. Dr. Arias Urdaneta enjoys the practice of general rheumatology, but has special interest in rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis and inflammatory myopathy.
