International Patients
At Vanguard Rheumatology Partners, we serve patients from the Caribbean, Central and South America seeking an initial or second rheumatologic opinion. In 2012 alone we served patients from a variety of different countries, including The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Trinidad, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Nicaragua. Our commitment to the international patient includes working with your physician back home to ensure continuity of care, and that recommendations are clearly communicated in a timely fashion.

We believe that traveling to a foreign country for medical care should not be a stressful or anxiety-provoking experience, and strive to make your experience as comfortable and easy as possible. Our staff will assist you in scheduling your appointment and diagnostic studies, coordinating care with any additional physician visits that may be required, preparing cost estimates, and coordination of billing and payment arrangements for rheumatologic services.

Medical Care Coordination
Our trained staff will strive to accommodate your travel schedule and take any special needs into consideration. Following your consultation, we will help to arrange for any diagnostic studies or additional physician referrals that may be required. If your condition requires additional expert rheumatologic opinion, our physicians will assist you identifying the right institution and physician to visit. Such rheumatologic centers of excellence include Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Financial Services
Our staff will prepare a cost estimate for you prior to traveling, including estimated costs for physician consultation, laboratory fees, and diagnostic studies.

Accommodations
As we are located in the heart of Miami Beach, Florida, there are numerous lodging options for the international traveler. For additional information, please speak to one of our staff members.

Making an Appointment
Patients should call our office at (305) 531-6766 to schedule an appointment with one of our physicians.  In addition to demographic information, such as address, telephone, email, and date of birth, a brief description of your medical condition should also be provided. Patients should bring to their appointment all pertinent medical records, such as medical reports (in either English or Spanish), and results of laboratory or other diagnostic studies.
